David Weisberg Appointed as Executive Director of World Jewish Relief USA

World Jewish Relief USA is delighted to announce the appointment of David Weisberg as its Executive Director, marking a new phase of growth for the 93-year-old organization.

Weisberg brings over three decades of executive experience leading organizations of local, regional, national, and international scope. He has most recently served as Chief Development Officer at the Mazzoni Center and CEO of the Federation for Jewish Philanthropy of Upper Fairfield County. His expertise aligns closely with World Jewish Relief’s mission to deliver urgent support to people in crisis, both within and beyond the Jewish community.

Founded in 1933 to support Jews fleeing Nazi persecution, World Jewish Relief rescued and assisted 65,000 Jewish refugees in the 1930s and 1940s, including almost 10,000 children on the Kindertransport and many survivors from the camps. Today, we support hundreds of thousands of vulnerable people across affected by conflict and disaster in 19 countries. Prioritizing the needs of women and girls, older people and those displaced, the charity provides much-needed humanitarian aid, livelihood recovery and mental health services.

Weisberg steps into the role at a critical time. As the world faces unprecedented challenges, including ongoing conflicts and humanitarian crises, his leadership will be central to growing World Jewish Relief across the US.

Regarding the appointment, David Weisberg, Executive Director of World Jewish Relief USA, shared“For more than 90 years, World Jewish Relief has shown what it means to live Jewish values in action – helping people in crisis, regardless of who they are or where they live. I am deeply aligned with that vision and enormously enthusiastic about introducing World Jewish Relief’s work to the US Jewish community and beyond.”

Paul Anticoni OBE, Chief Executive of World Jewish Relief, expressed his enthusiasm for Weisberg’s appointment: “David’s extensive experience and unwavering commitment to service make him an exceptional fit for this role. I am excited at the prospect of dramatically growing World Jewish Relief’s visibility, reach and resourcing across the United States.”

Weisberg’s appointment highlights World Jewish Relief’s commitment to expanding its life-saving work, especially in light of the ongoing Ukraine crisis, which has seen the organization deliver aid to over 377,000 people across Ukraine since the conflict began.
