Since Russia invaded Ukraine in February we have been supporting our 29 partners across the country as they do everything they can to protect their communities in the face of active conflict.
On October 7,2023, Israel was struck by a horrific and devasting terrorist attack by Hamas. On this day, everything changed for Israel and for Jews across the world.
World Jewish Relief continues to stand with Israelis, as the conflict enters its 22nd month and we long for the safe return of all the hostages. They must come home now.
World Jewish Relief was established as the Central British Fund for German Jewry in 1933 to help refugees from Nazi-Europe, and we succeeded in bringing around 65,000 Jewish refugees to safety.
We have the registration slips of over 277,000 people, as well as records for 35,000 refugees we supported in the 1930s and 40s.

After a wonderful 21 years, I will be stepping down as Chief Executive of World Jewish Relief in June 2027.
Leading this organisation has been an immense privilege, and I feel it is now time for a new Chief Executive to take on this position, bring their ideas and new energy to ensure we can deliver on our mission for yet another generation.
While I know June 2027 seems like a long way off, I wanted to give sufficient notice so that we can plan ahead sensibly. World Jewish Relief’s Trustees will begin the process of finding my successor in Summer 2026.
In early February, Executive Director of World Jewish Relief USA and other members of the World Jewish Relief team visited Kyiv to meet with participants and partners, and to witness the impact of our supporters' generosity.
Recently, celebrated concert pianist, author and actor, Mona Golabek, visited World Jewish Relief’s offices to speak about her mother, Lisa Jura – who escaped Austria on the Kindertransport when she was a teenager. Mona has devoted much of her life to telling her mother’s story, but a remarkable discovery in our archives – which hold documents about many of the 65,000 Jewish refugees World Jewish Relief assisted during the 1930s and 40s – changed her life.
World Jewish Relief USA is delighted to announce that David Weisberg has been appointed as Executive Director. Weisberg brings over three decades of executive experience leading organizations of local, regional, national, and international scope.
