After a wonderful 21 years, I will be stepping down as Chief Executive of World Jewish Relief in June 2027.

Leading this organisation has been an immense privilege, and I feel it is now time for a new Chief Executive to take on this position, bring their ideas and new energy to ensure we can deliver on our mission for yet another generation.

While I know June 2027 seems like a long way off, I wanted to give sufficient notice so that we can plan ahead sensibly. World Jewish Relief’s Trustees will begin the process of finding my successor in Summer 2026.

Drought across eastern Africa is intensifying, increasing displacement, food insecurity and suffering. In anticipation of worsening conditions in Ethiopia, World Jewish Relief, alongside its partners, is responding to urgent humanitarian needs including cash, water, livestock feed and disaster risk reduction training to help people survive and build their resilience ahead of a deepening crisis. Recently, celebrated concert pianist, author and actor, Mona Golabek, visited World Jewish Relief’s offices to speak about her mother, Lisa Jura – who escaped Austria on the Kindertransport when she was a teenager. Mona has devoted much of her life to telling her mother’s story, but a remarkable discovery in our archives – which hold documents about many of the 65,000 Jewish refugees World Jewish Relief assisted during the 1930s and 40s – changed her life.
